Baldness has not 'evolved' it just IS. Although one might argue that the loss of most body hair from pre-human to human might imply an evolutionary trend, that is looking at it from a mostly hairless modern human perspective and assuming that less hair is evidence of superiority. This argument is very attractive and comforting to balding men!
Excluding medical conditions, there are two main causes of male baldness: 1) there is a genetic component, baldness runs in families; 2) male-pattern baldness due to naturally high levels of testosterone.
The fact that it has a genetic component doesn't mean that it is evolution either, all it means is that baldness isn't a fatal mutation.
On a personal note, many years ago I was part of a study to measure the range of testosterone in a sample of individuals in a University Department. My testosterone measured 3 times the average level, but and this is important, the result was within the 'normal range'. I DO have male-pattern baldness but I am NOT a sex maniac or violent. The latter require more than just a high testosterone level.

Since baldness usually occurs long after a man has had offspring, it doesn't influence natural selection in any way - that is, there is nothing in baldness that either promotes or inhibits passing on those genes.
Unless of course she looks at your dad and thinks, if that what he's going to look like in 25 years, I'm outta here!

Baldness means that a man has a lot of testosterone. It's function... not sure, but I think it's sexy.

Yeah..it's to do with sex appeal!!
If you're losing your hair from the forehead up....it means you think alot!
If you're losing it at the crown...it means you're sexy!
If your losing it at the forehead AND the crown..then it means that you think you're sexy!!!
