i think you mean to say verbal or physical abuse.........it depends cause you could really **** someone up if you hit them hard enough....but at the same time you could also mess someones life up for the long run if you say things to make them feel worthless

Yes they can be arrested for verbal abuse and verbal abuse is worse in most cases. Physcial abuse leave more visable damage but mental abuse can have longer lasting effects. Most people feel safer and move on if the abuser(physical) is removed but mental abuse from verbal can last there entire life.

You can't have someone arrested for verbal abuse, unless they threaten you and then it is battery. It is difficult to prove battery unless you have a witness.
In most states, if the police are called and there are physical signs of abuse, the police are required to make an arrest. However, the charges are usually dropped if you don't testify.
In either case, the worst part is the fear. It can take years to get over. If you are being abused, tell someone. No One deserves that

I would also say that verbal abuse is mental abuse, because they both have the same detrimental effects on a person. To my knowledge, you cannot have someone arrested for verbal abuse (in the US), because we have freedom of speech here.

verbal and mental abuse are pretty much the same. Unless you mean like calling names and insulting you versus playing mind games like moving your things around when you are not around and making you feel crazy. I think both are bad and damaging. You need to let whoever is doing this to you go.....

the verbal if it hasn't already will get to you mentally i'm
not sure but to me abuse is abuse i would report it because you don't need that. the verbal abuse will tear you apart and after a while get to you emotionally as well as physically they are all interlinked with one another. you can call your local crisis center and they are better equiped to tell you and get you to the right source!!!

never heard of anyone being arrested for it but i can say one thing for sure. regardless of what kind of abuse it is you have choices and you dont have to live that way. know that you deserve better and get out of the relationship. for many years i thought just because i was in a bad relationship i have to stay in it because i was committed. boy was i stupid.thats why we have choices. make a wise one and get out.
