The best way to combat your fears is to educate yourself. Avoid books like "What to Expect While your Expecting" as they only succeed in terrifying new moms. Instead look for books by Dr. Sears (The Pregnancy Book, The Birth Book, The Baby Book). Other excellent books are The Complete Book of Pregnancy and Childbirth, Pregnancy Childbirth and the Newborn, The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth and The Ultimate Breastfeeding Book of Answers.
Try to relax and inform yourself so that you will be prepared for anything!

I'm assuming this is your first pregnancy? Yes, it's very normal to worry about horrible things happening. If it gets to be too much though, talk to your doctor about it. Especially after delivery, you want to know the warning signs for post partum depression, and get treatment for it if needed. But I remember after bringing my oldest child home from the hospital, going over to her bassinet every hour or so while she was sleeping to make sure she was still breathing. You've got a ton of hormones in your body running rampant right now, you're experiencing a ton of weird emotions, and your life is about to never be the same again. Some stress is normal. Just be aware if it starts to encompass your life, and you can't think about anything else. Best of luck to you!

Well i dont know exactly if that is normal so to say but i am sure alot of soon to be mothers do! I stress over the fact that while pregnant i may do something to miscarry again or have a deformed baby....NOW THAT IS STRESS! the doctor told me that that was natural and to do as i normally do but take it easy!
I think you'll be ok...Good Luck!

I have the same problem. I am bad about that too. I keep getting scared that my dads dog will eat my baby when its around. I am not sure why, but I just try not to think like that. She's not really a mean dog, I just think too much into things. Try not to worry and when the baby comes, just take precautions. You will be a great mom, and you shouldn't worry too much. It could mess up your mind frame.

please get a grip- yes, all mothers worry about their children but I found that all the things I worried about NEVER came true...the bad things that happened were completely "out of the blue" things you couldn't see coming...
so in a nutshell, stop yourself when you start spinning scenarios in your mind and replace the negative thoughts with happy ones...your little one can tell when you are "stressing" and THAT'S not good for your baby either...
it'll be FINE...now go reward yourself for feeling better...maybe a PBJ sandwich with M&M's in it?

i stress to babe, but try not to let yourself get carried away with it. it isn't good to get yourself too stressed. just trust in nature and enjoy being pregnant. think of something that will calm you. i have a hammock daydream that does it for me x
