G'day,

Your connection may be set to auto-dial. This is what you need to do (assuming you are using Windows XP):
1. Click Start - Setting - Control Panel
2. Double click on Internet Options
3. Click on Connections tab
4. You can see your dial-up account listed on the window. Highlight it.
5. Make sure it is on 'Never dial a connection'
6. Click OK

This means that you will need to manually connect to internet. Best way to do is as follows:
1. From Control Panel, choose Network Connections
2. You should be able to see your Dial-up account icon. Right-click and hold the icon, drag onto your desktop to create a shortcut.
3. Therefore you can couble-click the icon on the desktop everytime you want to connect to internet.

Hope this helps. Good luck!!

PS: Cuite... nice try and a very convincing one :p

click on start /all programs accessories/system tools /hammer
if hammer is not installed put your windows system disk in the drive the windows logo will open close that off
click on start /run
type in the box D:\install\windows\system\tools
/hammer.exe
then click on ok if the hammer tool does not install from the windows cd remove the cd and re-start your computer while that is re-start you search your home
you can use a tool you have laying around the house. The tool you need is a hammer. Just pull out the tower into the center of the room and start beating it to an inch of its life. After it says i give show me mercy then you can restart it and everything should be back to normal.
