Her cigarettes? Started thinking of serious answers to I read that, then I had a good laugh! Don't take away her cigarettes, just make her clean up in order to earn money to buy them:)
My best friend has 3 daughters. When they were younger, if they didn't pick up their clothes, he would hang their bra's, underware and clothes from tree's in the front yard so that when the school bus stopped in front of the house to drop them off, they were so embarrassed. That fixed that problem. When they would leave their wet towels on the floor after a shower, he would put them under their bed sheets so they'd either have to sleep on wet sheets or change them.

This is a joke, right? An 11 year old smoking? And why would an 11 year old need a cell phone? If your question happens to be real - of course take them away - she shouldn't have them in the first place.

What are you doing allowing her to smoke in the first place? Being a mother is not being a pal. You need to set rules and give definite consequences when they are broken. You are the adult. She needs you to be the adult and be firm. She is testing you and will continue to test you in every way possible. If you let her smoke, avoid her chores, not do her homework, swear at you, have sex (especially unprotected sex), do drugs, commit murder, you are not helping her.

So tough love is sometimes the answer. Be firm and fair. If that is mean, then so be it.

[Notice that my list shows an accelerated antisocial behavior and is just for example, not that she is doing all that now].

Why are you giving an 11 year old cigarettes? Wow that's setting her up for the future. Good parenting. You should take a belt to her ***. I am serious then she won't get lazy. Believe me it works.

Seeing as this is supposed to be about music I would suggest the following:

Go down to your local record store and get a copy of AngryMothers excellent album, "Do As You're Told Or I Will Sell Your Soul", sit your child down and play it for them ad nausem. You will have to do this so that they can properly absorb the subliminal messages "encouraging" your daughter to (among other things) clean her room, stop smoking and stop seeing that slacker boyfriend who still doesn't know what he wants to with his life (I mean, if you don't know what you would like to be doing when you're 11 there's something seriously wrong)

Trust me, this will work. And no, you're not being mean. i would caution against smoking though - it will stunt her growth. You wouldn't want a runt with a voice like Bryan Adams for a daughter now would you?
