amazon seller price?????

i want to buy a book from amazon.. and there's many seller who sale a new book i want with very cheap price while i know the cover price for same book is almost 10 - 15 times. and i also checked that the seller has a good ranting. do you know why they can offer a very cheap price & how?

yes, I used to sell on Amazon... we get books from all sources.. and trust me amzon sellers are very very competitave against each other... as long as the seller has a 5 star rating dont worry...some books get sold for 1 cent... thats becuz they make money off of the shipping ...amazon pays them a standard mount according to which shipping u use... ok for example,, when they send something to u like a book or dvd, they send it out media mail which only cost $1.42, but u get charged much more... even with that increase though.. it is usually worth the price...

Used popular fiction books don't sell very well on Amazon because there are too many of them available.

Amazon will collect a standard shipping rate which is about 3.50.
Generally after the fees the profit a seller can make by selling a book for a penny is about 50 cents and that is just off the shipping.

Why they would sell a book for only 50 cents profit is beyond me, It wouldn't be worth my time. However they may sell a high volume of books and it is worth it to them.

You would have to sell an awful lot of books to make a living at 50 cents profit. These 1 cent sellers are hurting legitimate sellers who sell used books for a living.

The book is used. If they have a high rating (lots of rankings, and I look for 97-98% or better) go for it. Watch out for shipping charges. Depending on the price of the book and if your total purchase might exceed $25, you can get free shipping from amazon, which might wipe out anysavings by buying a used book.
