Delhi or New Delhi?
I m not sure about Delhi but i can rekon some in New Delhi;
1. Le Meridien is great
2. Radisson has grreat big rooms and is close to the airport, dont forget to eat in the Kebab Factory, Superb.
3. Another family owned hotel (my great uncle owns this) by the Eros group is Park Royal in Greater Khalash, near to shopping centres, excellent restaurants.
4. Hyatt Regency is amazing, classic touch from entrance to spa, beautiful
5. If u wanna save for shopping but still wanna stay in good hotel then stay in Holiday Inn Greater Khalash, there is a big disco next door situated on happening area.
These are the top 5 hotels in New Delhi, Price for standard room in these hotels are amazingly Skyrocket, i m not sure why hotels in India cost alot. For example say per nite in New Delhi is $200 (us), with the same amount in Singapore you'll get a Executive S.

I haven't visited the Oberoi, but the Imperial takes a lot of beating - the accommodation and service are world class (and I spend most of my life in hotels), and I find it very good value for money. Unfortunately their rates go up - substantially - at the end of August. Seems their high season starts a month earlier than many others.
I was pretty impressed by the Hyatt Regency - food is better value than the Imperial - but the best rate I could get there was more than twice what the Imperial were asking.
I'm sure the Oberoi will be great - I stayed at their Rajvillas in Jaipur, which was truly memorable. But it wasn't cheap!
If you're looking for a smaller boutique hotel in Delhi, I was very impressed by the Shervani in Sunder Nagar (19 rooms). Their rates go up at end of September but, until then, their suites and deluxe rooms are great value.
Unfortunately there seems to be a big hole in the market for quality mid-priced hotels - under USD100 a night. From my (admittedly limited) research, what you get in Delhi for that amount is really third rate, and dreadful value for money.

One of the most distinguished addresses in the national capital, The Taj Mahal Hotel is located in the exclusive residential area of Lutyens Delhi, close to the seat of government. Reflecting the heritage of Mughal Delhi, this hotel offers graceful architecture with modern facilities.
The warm, pristine white lobby of The Taj includes design details reminiscent of Mughal architecture such as intricate motifs, golden inlay work, and niches from Shahjahanabad, the erstwhile mogul capital. The hotel is a veritable showcase of artifacts with the intricate design work of the lobbys domes and panels perfectly complimenting the calm marble fountain streams.
The hotel is a city landmark, centrally located, in close proximity to key areas. It is a 40-minute drive from the airport and near the bustling city center, Connaught Place, Pragati Maidan, Government offices and Diplomatic missions
The Taj Mahal Hotel has been awarded the 5 Star Diamond Award by the American Academy of Hospitality.
