now i see they are making a filter jug for those water coolers, so you can just fill them with tap water, and it filters as it goes into the cooler

I had to get one after the remodelers broke old pipes in part of the building and the water started to taste really bad and I kept finding
bits of hard stuff in the filter on the faucet. So i bought one of the
Pur faucet mount filters, cause you only use it for drinking or
cooking but just the regular faucet head for dishwashing. It works
great, the filters last a couple of months and even tho they are a
bit pricey (even at Costco prices, about $10 a filter) my water
is back to being drinkable. I had used a water service for a while,
but it really got expensive. And I don't like lugging those big
containers of water they sell at the markets. So the faucet
mount filter works out just fine.

I have a Pur filter on my faucet, our area's water isn't the best tasting. It saves time over the pitchers, we had one but` never remembered to refill when it got low. The replacement filters are a little pricey, but I think worth it.

I have the water cooler type of filter by Brita. I love it and my entire family uses it. I've found that we tend to drink a lot more water when it is readily available in hot and cold.

Dude go to Wal-Mart and buy some gallon jugs of Distilled Water, they are like $.60. Distilled water is the best thing to drink.

I live where we have very hard water. I bought a Keneko(?) water treatment for my entire home last year. The kitchen and bathroom are now easier to clean, the water tastes better, and the ice is clear.
If your shower is encrusted with gunk it may be hard water. If your water tastes and smells like someone sewer, and if your ice is cloudy it may be unfiltered water.
I recommend it.
