My seven year old is really into dance. She has been taking lessons for years but is now competing in Jazz and Hip hop. She is getting really into it and wanting to take more and more classes. I know nothing about dance but I want to support her in it. At the same time I dont want it to run her life, but its like she is obsessed. She doesnt think about anything else. Any tips? Plus does anyone know were I can get good dance shoes for competing at a decent price?

You are blessed to have a child that loves dance at such a young age and she is blessed to have a mother that supports her in her pursuit.

As Allstar mentioned, www.discountdance.com/ is great.

Dance is very foreign to non-dancers so you might want to try a dance class yourself, so you can understand why your daughter loves it so much. If you don't want to attend a class, there are many DVDs in the market where you can learn all types of dance at home.

Have fun and enjoy your daughter's ever-increasing grace!

If she likes to dance, let her do it until she doesn't like to do it anymore. Don't try to change her mind about it. But you might also suggest some addition sort of activity such as soccer.

Good Luck.

It's great if she already found what she wants to be doing for life. However, that might be just a stage and it might pass.

For shoes try www.allaboutdance.com

It's just a phase, she'll get over it. maybe you should ground her or time out.

Try Payless Shoes.
