Make your toss into your body a bit more then normal. When you bring your racket up try and hit the left side of the ball. I am assuming you are a righty. So the aim the edge of your racket the top part at the bottom left of the ball and try and brush up so that every string passes over the ball. Follow through straight up until the ball has cleared your frame and then have your racket go far out to your right. Your errors should be into the net or off the edge of your racket that will either go strait up or onto the court next to you, a kind of a shank or mishit. You have to have the eastern or continental grip down in order to hit this serve. You want to make sure your toss is high so that you have the time to fully brush the ball up and extend your stroke. Good luck.

In tennis, the top-spin or 'kick' serve is created by the racket face brushing up the back of the ball.

It creates a serve that loops higher over the net and then dips down into the court.

It can be a very deceptive serve as the ball will swing from right to left in the air (for a right hander) but as it bounces the spin will bite into the court and it will kick high and to the right.

This makes it ideal as a second serve as the looped flight path makes it safe yet the kick on the bounce forces the receiver back and usually on their weaker backhand return.

Whatever you do, don't hit it below the belt.
