The cheapo network adapter I bought completely f*cked my computer. Every once in a while it'll even shut down windows. Is there any better driver for this thing, or am I stuck with sh*t until I can afford a better one? It's a Netgear WG111v2.

Go here:

You should get version 1.3.0 and then 1.4.0
Make sure you upgrade to 1.3.0 and reboot, then go back to the website and upgrade to 1.4.0

You can see if an updated driver is available from Netgear, but I've not encountered any problems with the cards that I've used over the years. Was there a NIC in your machine prior to the Netgear NIC? If so, did you uninstall the drivers for it via "Device Manager" prior to installing the new card? You might be experiencing a conflict otherwise.

I had problems with my PC restarting when trying to download for about four months. Turned out to be this issue right here. Since acquring this driver, I've had no problems with my Netgear adapter. Running smooth for about 2 months now. Microsoft kept telling me that it was the drivers for my Video Card.

go to http://www.driveragent.com/?ref=93... and scan your system. ALL drivers on your system can be updated from this site.
