I passed It was extremely easy. I knew most of it because I already took drivers ed. and I would recommend everyone else take drivers ed. before going for their permit it makes things easier.

man dont even worry about the permit test. although i know people who have failed it up to 5 times here in PA it had to have been the easiest test i have ever taken. i was pretty nervous before taking it and once i sat down to take it i practically laughed at the questions. 75% of them are common sense and the rest you just have to skin through your drivers manual to figure out. i read through my drivers manual one time just to make sure i covered everything and relized i didnt even have to read most of it. just make sure you know some answers to questions such as which way you turn your wheel when parked facing up or down a hill, or what do you have to remeber when driving next to a big truck, the blood alcohol limit, and even hand signals. on my test there are 18 questions and as soon as you get 15 right the test is over and you pass and you can also skip questions to come back to them later. you can get 3 wrong and after that you fail. i didnt get one wrong of even have to skip a question so basically just read your manual and you will do fine. also make sure you know the road signs. well i hope i have helped and best of luck to you!

Hello there.

It's really a bunch of different questions that revolve around the following topics:

- traffic rules
- road signs
- parking
- speed laws
- drug/alcohol influence on driving

Just go ahead and take some free practice tests if you want to see what the real exam is like, it will give you a fair idea of what to expect on the test. Here is some tests you could start with http://www.epermittest.com/practice-permit-test

I agree that drivers ed helps greatly, the problem is that it is pretty costly in some states, you are looking to spend around $350 on the program you don't always HAVE to do.

Good luck on the test, everyone!

DUDE---
I really DO hope that you didn't wait until now to begin to study.
If you studied the DMV test prep book, everything you need to know to pass the test is there.
You need to know a whole lot more to keep from getting a citation, but that all comes with experience.

A little tip for taking the test. (I teach truck driving in CA)
Read each question carefully, and don't get in a hurry or think others are laughing at you because you are slow. Do it right.
Each question will be multiple choice, and some of them appear really stupid---->
"What other than clear clean water may fall from your vehicle on the roadway;"
1) Sand
2) gravel smaller than 1/2"
3) Feathers from a live bird
4) gum wrapper

The correct answer is #3. There is a reason for this. You don't need to worry about why yet.
But the strategy here is to read the question, and if the answer isn't clear to you, begin to check off the answers that are clearly wrong. Then you have only 3 choices, then only 2, then you only have to think about the MOST right of the 2 left.
Works very well (For ALL multiple choice tests, even school).

Good Luck

In Tennessee, there's a lot on how many drinks you have to consume before you hit the legal limit. That's what I remember being the trickiest part.
