This is my favourite novel of all time - the true story of Henri Charrier who showed the most amazing courage and endurance in the face of adversity.
He followed this up with 'Banco' which was about his life after his dramatic prison years.....extremely entertaining - a most amazing life.
I got both Papillon and Banco at a second hand bookstore, but try Ebay or Amazon or Booktopia.
It's such a great read, you're going to love it - he truly is an inspiration

I was lucky enough to find a copy of the book in an old second hand book store. There is a movie that was made based on the book in 1973 starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. Here is the link to the movie site.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070511/
If I can find my copy again and this question is still open, I will check who the publisher was and maybe you can buy a new copy. Hope that this helps you out a bit. Pete.
