Liberal Studies degrees are frowned upon? What if you want to go into the Peace Corps after undergrad, and then go to an international business school? (LS would include a business component, anthropology component, and French)...

The only problem I see looking back at my "Humanistic Studies" degree is that I didn't get any real in-depth knowledge in any given subject. I took courses in lots of disciplines, but many of them were only Intro to This and Intro to That. I'd like to have a bit more expert knowledge. (I didn't do any business courses at all, that sounds smart on your part!) As far as opportunities go though, the only one that's really lost with the approach I took was grad school right after college; since you have a different plan you should be fine. The poster above makes a good point about finding out what the Peace Corps expects, though.

Good luck and have fun!

Your best bet would be to check with the Peace Corps about what they require for what you want to do for them. Most of their jobs are very specific. After the Peace Corps, you should be ok for most schools. LS programs tended to be viewed with caution because people think maybe you did all sexology and klingon studies. Once you are actually working, you can be taken more seriously.

Whatever meaningless degree you get will be meaningless regardless of the discipline. There is no way you will ever even have any sort of "fleck" or "grain" of knowledge that compares to my vast database of ALL KNOWINGNESS! Just deal with it amicably, and move on to become a waitress at Hooters like you were destined to.

You seem to know what you want--I say go for it. Enjoy your studies, work hard and no body's gonna frown on you!
