You should be afraid, very afraid. If China doesn't like you, it won't send troops, rather it will sell off all the US Treasury bonds it holds. Or, more likely, not buy any more but buy euro ones instead.

The result will be higher interest rates, a devaluation of the dollar, and inflation in the USA of a very serious kind.

The Bush Administration wiped out the Treasury surplus and has indebted future generations with the costs of war and the cost of tax reductions for the very, very rich.

BTW, the rest of the world doesn't care if the USA likes their attitude: the world works on the basis of international law (which the USA disdains unless it works to their advantage) and on respect for sovereignty. The USA has a trade deficit in the many trillions of dolalrs. Somebody has to take your IOUs. And somebody has to pay them off someday. Arrogance doesn't sell well on Wall Street, in the City of London, in the Paris or Frankfurt or Tokyo or Zurich markets.

And next time you're in Wal-Mart or Costco, have a look at where all the stuff they sell is made: the USA couldn't survive a month without China. Or Saudi Arabia, Iran, Venezuela and all the other countries you don't perhaps like. This is not the 19th Century and the USA is not any longer self-sufficient. Except, perhaps, in coal and all those excess crops that it forces onto other countries' markets. Like Mexico, impoverishing Mexican farmers and making them head north to try to find work in the USA. . . .

Well, would you go up to a pycho and start taunting him? Wouldn't you be a little scared of getting your a*ss kicked? Yeah, it's unfortunate, but the more people who hate us the more danger we are all in. Remember the days of WWII when countries cheered at the thought of the good ol' Americans coming in to liberate them? No more. That is what really makes me sad. We used to be on the side of right no matter what, always there to squash evil. We knew how to stay out of what was none of our business and the world respected us for it. I'd feel a hell of a lot safer if things were still that way now...

Its only the Americans who live in the U.S. their entire life that dont have to deal with it....but Americans who travel abroad and interact with locals and- not just to the middle east- are the ones who suffer. I personally know a friend living in Europe who prefers to tell people she is Canadian rather than American. I know its certainly not the end of the world, nor can we be liked by EVERYONE but I dont think its wise to have that kind of an attitude towards the world. After all, we are all humans :-)

You are so extremely uneducated on the reasons to not be isolationist during a global economy that it would take way too much of my times to start from the beginning in order to explain.

I don't care if the world likes us or not, but I do care about the choices we make as a nation.

I agree, everyone says they hate the US but they all want to copy our ways and lifestyle, are moving here in droves and buying up all of the real estate they can get their hands on,
yet they are always standing with their hands out for our money and our help.

You better hope China does, because if they ever joined forces with North Korea, they'd be unstoppable, even by the U.S. and its allies.
