I have a 1989 cadillac sedan de ville, which had no noticeable problems...and then, all of a sudden one day, it started dripping excessive amounts of water from the tailpipe and overheating.....and now I cant travel over 2 miles without having to refill the radiator with water, even if I just let the car sit and run idling, I can see water shooting out of the tailpipe......what could be the problem??

From all indications you have blown a head gasket, or cracked a head. in either case, you are looking at a pretty tall repair bill for that old a car. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like a temporary repair like stop-leak is going to help it either, although you could try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
If this is a vehicle you really want to keep, or if you are strapped for funds to replace it, find a reputable shop and ask for them to run a couple of tests. In about an hour or less, they should be able to tell you what happened, and how much and how long to repair it.

Sorry
Good Luck

Dont know about good but its normal, water is a by product of burning and also the water content of the air condenses after going thru the motor. After the engine and exhaust pipe warms up you cant see it anymore because its coming out as steam.

The way you described the problem suggests a leak in the cooling system. Possibly a cracked head gasket. The 89 Cadillac was known for this problem.

You had a blown head gasket and probably didnt realize it or did but did nothing about it. Now You have a cracked head and your better off getting another car. It would be alot cheaper than fixing yours. Trust me.

one of your head gaskets blew and that excessive water is your coolant being pumped out by your piston or pistons. if you allow it to continue the water will leak worse one day when you start your car you'll bend a connecting rod as you crank it ( BECAUSE WATER WONT COMPRESS)

Good luck

You either have a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Take it to a mechanic you trust and have them look at it.

Usually if use AC it is common to see some water in tail pipe. But your problems sounds more serious. You should see a mechanic. Sounds like a radiator problem.
