John Ellis!
He used to play sax in Charlie Hunter's trio. Now he's got his own band and own style. It's more jazz than funky jam band style. His songs are more unique and interesting than Hunter's (no disrespect).

The album Roots, Leaves and Branches is amazing, in my opinion. The songs and the band are both great. Looking at your list of bands/musicians that you like, I can't imagine that you wouldn't like it.

I've seen him live in small places a few times with; Mike Moreno-guitar, Aaron Goldberg-piano, Roland Geurin-bass, and Jason Marsalis-drums, and once with Robert Glasper on piano. Those shows were so good that I started laughing during a few jams. Seriously.

Chris Botti is kind of new, but not too bad. If you want to go older you can't go wrong with Ella Fitzgerald or BB King. Louie Armstrong is always a goodie too.
