What could it be? Its sounds like I just ran over a cat. And only happens when I'm backing up

ive got a 95 culass and it sounds like the motor mount. if you have a cross member under the exaust, the pipe could be hitting it too when you put it in reverse which again would be a mount allowing that extra movment.

It sounds like you might have some transmission problems, if you are only hearing it in reverse.

if your slightly holding the brake pedal down it could be the brakes
