I have worked really hard and many hours in organizing myself to have a better year. I am a Kindergarten Teacher and we are all high in numbers in classrooms. I feel the Principal is always correcting my students and the way I do things with my students. I have a lot of nice things going in my teaching. Why can't she see what I am doing good. I feel like she is picking on me.

This may be important to mention that my boss knows my mother and father. My father used to be her teacher when she was in Sixth Grade and my mom taught at the same school. She likes my parents.

She might just be trying to help. You know... constructive criticism. A lot of managerial ppl make the mistake of forgetting that ppl need appraisal sometimes to help their self-esteem. I have seen that on more than one occassion.

If I were you and I have seen this work, I would have a sit down with her and bring it up. Just come right out and tell her that you need to hear about the good things you are doing. Explain to her that when you only hear the negative, that it influences your motivation. If she is a good manager, she will understand and make the adjustment.

How does she treat other teachers? Are you sure you aren't overly sensitive?

You weren't hired by her, were you? You were hired by the Department of Education, just like she was. You deserve to be treated the same way as she treats any other teacher. Find that out.

If she is "picking" on you, bring it to her attention that you feel she is doing so; perhaps she is just trying to help you be a better teacher "in her eyes", not that I mean that is true, but it's her perception.

The only thing that works is honesty, within the "rules" and stick to your guns.

Sounds like you are a young teacher.........also sounds like it is time for a "conference" with this "boss".........maybe she thinks you are like the "child she never had"!
Also........mention/conference with your parents......could prove interesting.
If all else fails..........change schools.........you cannot give your students your "all" and enjoy them carrying these thoughts around in your head! We need teachers everywhere.......including the next town over from where you now reside........Good Luck!

This is real-world politics. Not school/job politics.

Try another forum.

Now, I suppose, you think I'm picking on you. Nope, I'm correcting an error that you made. Learn from it.

it's time to open your mouth and let her know that she is making you uncomfortable. do not be nasty about it, and don't do it in front of other people, but let her no that you don't like what she is doing and that you feel that she is picking on you. the worse thing to do is to harbor ill feelings because of something someone else is doing. don't wreck yourself let her know and get it off your chest.

So since you got the job by knowing someone, forget about your feelings of her picking on you.

You can do no wrong!

Your in!
