We are looking for statistical treatment to use in our research to determine the reliable number of samples to test.

i never heard of a "slovan test" in statistics. are you looking to determine a sample size for a particular investigation? if so, if you can describe the type of response(s) = data you expect to obtain, and the question(s) that need to be answered, it may be possible to calculate a required sample size.
