How old is the child? but I use to get the children out on a Nature hike teach them the names of trees and flowers then have them press them in a heavy book then glue them on cardboard they then could take it too school. On rainy days I would have the kids go through my old magazines and cut out a certain color such as blue then had them glue the pieces to tag board or card board and then tell the class all the things they found in blue. It gave them a time with me and they were proud to show others what they made.
