Well I have never worked at either, but I had a friend that worked at Starbucks and the job included everything making coffee, and cleaning... She described it as working like a slave... I have worked in retail and I believe that you will enjoy working at AE more than food service... but that is just my opinion

American Eagle pays barely above minimum wage.
At Starbucks you get your base pay plus tips and you are eligible for stock options, medical, vision, and dental coverage, and tuition reimbursement after 90 days of employment.
Go to http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/jobcenter_thesbuxexperience.asp
and download the Total Pay PDF file on the lower right corner.
Starbucks also allows limitless free drinks while you're working, a 30 percent discount on everything (drinks, food, merchadise) when you're not working, and a free pound of coffee every week.

Starbucks pays more, and they offer benefits if you are looking for coverage.
Working in retail in the past, I spent more than I made.
