Many males feel threatened by a woman in power believing that their dominate role in the world my somehow be deteriorated.
From the movie 'Deloras Clairborne', ".. it is a depressingly masculine world we live in..." and they damn well want to keep it that way.
Then there are always those males who just flat believe women are inferior to them because they see their qualities as superior.

Yo, diaryofamadblackman, get your facts straight.
Ferraro did not 'withdraw' from anything. She was on the Democratic ticket as a VP candidate in 1984, even though she was far less qualified than Dan Quayle... (Walter "Mondull" was the Presidential candidate for the Dems that year)...
Ferraro was from New York, and the Democrats couldn't even win her own home state that year...Reagan won 49 states (Mondull/Farraro won Mondull's state of Minnesota as well as the District of Columbia). The final electoral count was 525 to 13 LOL, thanks in part to Americans remembering the four years of Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981.
The only reason Ferraro was nominated that year is because the Democrats knew they were going to lose anyway, they weren't going to waste a nomination on someone they thought might win in the future. At the same time, they knew they could say "at least we TRIED having a woman on the ticket".
btw Buffy, HIllary could have run in 2004 against Bush... the question you should be asking yourself is, what was SHE afraid of?
And no, it had nothing to do with 'keeping her promise to the people of New York to stay their Senator for a full term'... if she thought she could have won, she would have run. She knew she had no chance. She has no desire to be a Senator...to her, it's just a stepping stone to bigger things (she thinks, anyway).
But to answer the question, of course we're not 'scared' to have a woman President. You should be asking why more woman don't run for President, why they don't want to be involved in the nomination process.
You're talking as though we need to just hand the Presidency to a woman, just because it's 'about time' we had one. No, that's not how it works...you have to get nominated, and you have to run, and you have to win.

They cant even become a priest. So I dont think a women will ever be a president in this country even though it has happened in other countries. Geraldine Ferraro was on a ticket to be Vice President. They immediately dug up some dirt on her husband and she withdrew. I guess you need to be an idiot, alcholic and a cocain user, and a male to get that post. America has dumbed down to the point that politics is nothing more than making empty promises to draw you in then they f**k you in the a** once elected. Hey, all you politicians, I like to be kissed while I am being f***ed.

It would totally depend on who that woman was. I don't think I would particularly like to have Hilary Clinton in charge, but there are other women I would not object to.
There have been and are now many female heads of state in the world. No reason to be scared. Many have been effective leaders.

I do beleive they are. The old old fashioned men in the goverment need to retire before we'll have a woman president, they still think a woman should serve a man

No, not at all. I just don't want the family who have most humiliated and disgraced the white house to ever step back inside it. I am sure a good qualified woman will eventually sit in the oval office, but I don't want her last name to be Clinton.

You are right. Some are just like some are scared to have an African-American President. You have to remember, however, you still have the "good ol' boy" network still out there...
