I installed ram in my sons computer and I can't really tell any difference, even though the ram is double what it was. I wasn't expecting anything miraculous, since his is an older computer...but I figured I'd be able to tell a little.
Were there any special settings I should have adjusted etc...?

The computer has a 400 mhz processor. Its the hotwheels kind I bought off of EBAY for my 3 yr old for his birthday. I enstalled a dvd player in it and it worked surprizingly well at playing his cartoons..with only 64 ram. He did have one or two dvds where the kids were dancing and singing that played a little slow...nothing really bad...so I thought Id upgrade the ram and it would fix that slowness. Especially since I doubled the ram (yes the ram is showing up), but I'm not really seeing a difference....

Its partially the RAM causing the video to play slowly. The other half is the graphics card. The reason it oges so slow is because the card cant handle the frames per second. The cheapes one on newegg.com is here.

No, you don't have to adjust any settings. You really won't notice a difference in the computer's performance unless you're playing a big computer game that takes up all the computer's resources; then the games will run faster. I think you can check how much RAM your computer has by right clicking on My Computer and going to Properties.

There is a huge chance it is not seeing the new ram...

Go to system properties and make sure it says what you think it should before anything else.

There is also a free memory program you can dl to constantly see how much ram you have... google rampage and install it.. it is a great program anyway....

Either your processor sucks (lower than 2ghz) or you never caused enough stress on your computer to need more ram.

Ram determines how many programs or how much memory you can use at one time.
