I know that this is a really stupid question but I need to know. Is is possible for a baby's foot to become lodged in your ribs while pregnant? If it is will it like break my ribs while trying to deliver? I have a ball under my ribs on the right side that hurts all the time and the doctor said "it's a foot" but it feels like her foot is inbetween my two lower ribs. Please serious answers only. Thank you!

I know it feels like it is 'stuck' but here are the facts:
Your baby is in a sac called the placenta, which resides in your womb or uterus, which protects your body from any injury from your baby. It sounds like your baby is already in position- head down, and is probably going to be long, judging from the fact that her foot is up by your ribs. You don't say how far along you are, but it sounds like you are pretty far along. So, you shouldn't have to deal with it too much longer. And no, your ribs will not be broken when you deliver, your baby's foot is not actually in between your ribs, although I know it certainly does feel like it! You won't break anything- but I don't blame you for asking- there are so many changes that go on in a woman's body during pregnancy!

No. The baby's foot is way too small and fragile to break anything. The feet will eventually shift to a more comfortable position as the baby rotates downward in preparation for birht.
But hey, broken ribs can't be any worse than childbirth right?

I had that exact thing with my first pregnancy. The foot was always sticking in my ribs on the right side and I could feel it. The doctor said he just favored that position but I was worried about it. Delivery went fine.

Check with your doctor just to make sure. I remember when I was pregnant and my lower ribs would go numb from the pressure and kicking but everything was fine. I also had trouble taking deep breaths towards the end.

im sure it is possible. i had a friend whos daughter broke her rib while she was pregnant. my daughter was always that high and it was painful. a sonogram might be able to tell if shes stuck or not but if not the doctor might be able to feel and see if it is stuck or not

No - your baby's foot is not stuck in your ribs - but what is happening is that your baby is getting so big that he/she is compressing your internal organs (diaphragm, intestines, lungs, etc) upwards...and that is what is causing your discomfort.

I know someone whose ribs were dislocated by the baby kicking them while she was pregnant. This is very rare, but it can occur.
