I have a 2006 Lincoln Navigator with the power running board that is supposed to "glide out" when the doors are opened. It is now sometimes not coming out at all and when it does, it makes a horrible sound. My dealer can't get me in for service until next week. I do have knowledge of automotive repair and have done many repairs on other cars, so if you can tell me what to do I am sure I can accomplish it. Thanks!

Just a thought; any chance that the track for the running board glide has been damaged by a parking stop, or speed bump?
The only other thing that comes to mind is the possibility of debris (stone, wood chip etc) has been lodged in the track. It is probably going to take getting down under the vehicle and inspect for damage and/or alignment.
i just checked the ASE database and didn't see anything relevant and no recalls were posted (but this is not FORD's database either).

Good Luck
