Well you don't need a wireless modem, but you do need a wireless router. It's really simple to hook up (At least this is how my router is). You plug the ethernet cable from your computer into the #1 slot of your wireless router. You connect the cord from your modem into the router, fire up the software and you are set. The router I've been using for the past few years is the D-Link DI-624. It was rated as one of the fastest wireless routers by Maximum PC, I tried to look for the article but I couldn't find it.

purchase a wireless modem and router, make sure you have sufficient ram. An older computer may need a card, check with the manufacturer of your system.
The router software should take you through the set up process.
Linksys is a reputable brand.

You need a wireless router or better yet a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Adapter. Very nifty lil device. Hotspot in a stick. You plug it into any computer with a broadband connection and you're set.
