Whitney My Love is a Regency Romance
Whitney has a crush on her neighbor, but her father punishes her for being unladylike by sending her to Paris. She attracts the unshakable attentions of the Duke of Claymore.

Judith McNaught gave the keynote speech to an RWA conference at least 10 years ago, (I'm not certain which one, perhaps Midnight and Magnolias?) and she talked about how hard it was to get that novel published, (even though it is quite well written.) It was very close to her heart. At the time, it was considered groundbreaking, because, while it is a Regency, it isn't the chaste sort of Regency that was the only thing being published at the time. But someone took a chance on her and her full length novel (not one of those slim Regencies) and voila. Judith McNaught is practically a household word.
