I, like almost half of its subcribers are still waiting for my new broadband connection, according to their press release, they had double the take up that they expected, hence the delay, then within 2 weeks they were advertising the new service again on national tv! beware its an 18 month contract that you have to begin paying for imediately, yet months later no connection, so we are still paying to our old provider as well, the only way you can contact them is through a expensive help line, which by the way keeps you on hold for hours. are you being ripped off by talktalk, and can we sue them, because they are definately at it with our money?

I'd slap a class-action lawsuit on their asses so fast......contact as many people as you can that have bought into this shyt, get together with a good lawyer, plan your attack route, and flank them sombitches before they get a chance to pack up and leave the country.

Oh yes please, they are terrible.... 6 months ago they installed broadband, tv and phone in my house, telling me they had to put a new physical line in so I had to be at home. Just before the day of installation, they text me to say that miraculously they didn't need to come. I called them to see what the score was and they said that the text was a mistake and I should still be at home when they visit on the installation date. So I did as I was told and guess what, they never came! I called them and eventually they apologised and offered me £5 compensation....I asked what they charge customers who aren't at home when they call and it was significantly more, £25 or £35 I think, they eventually compensated me about £60 once they got the point that they had messed up...

but it goes on, 2 weeks ago they were due to move my services to my Dads address. The deal was that they must install a totally new line which they promised to do. They even called me 2 days before the service move and confirmed a new line was going into dads house. But they totally messed this up too. The engineer turned up and just took over my dads BT line which he has had for 30 yrs, he's 79 and does not undertsand all this new technology. I am furious with them and have been contacted by their customer complaints department, but when I call them all i get is an answerphone message. I have called 10 times this week and they have called my Dad once, knowing full well what the problem is and that I won't be there as I am working away.

How do you get these people to understand the distress they cause? You call and are pushed from department to department. I have spent hours trying to sort out their mistakes. I am on the verge of just cancelling my direct debit, I am sure that will wake them up, let's see.....

ALL of the internet and broadband companies here in the UK have latitude and attitude that I find absolutely appalling. I had a similar situation with Wanadoo/Orange that I ended up losing about £70 because of an unexpected move in the midst of one of their contracts!
I think that the laws about how thse companies do "business" should be changed. As well as a lawyer, or maybe rather than a lawyer, I'd talk to my MP.

When they said "Free Broadband" I knew this would happen.

There is no such thing as a free lunch and legally I'm not sure what you can do because they service they haven't given you is one you are not paying for (technically - though you are in other ways)

Contact Trading Standards and in future remember these two statements.

1. There is no such thing as a free lunch

2. If you think it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Call a lawyer and see what it says. You should be compensated for the wait. You should never agree to pay for something until you have it.
