They're pesky things. I hate it when my house gets hit with them. I asked a pest control guy about them and he said about the only thing you can do is remove all sources of food. They have really short lifespans, so if you get rid of anything they can eat (fruit on the counter, open boxes of foodstuff in the cupboard, etc.) then they'll die off and you won't get new ones.

Fruit Flies To get rid of fruit flies, fill a small bowl with red wine vinegar and a few drops of dish soap. I set it on my windowsill near the fruit, and the fruit flies are attracted to it and drown. I have had no more problems with fruit flies since I discovered this. (Elaine)
Place basil in fruit bowls and plant pots of basil outside near entrances.
Place fruit that has been picked from outside into a pail of water, covering the fruit completely before bringing it in the house.

I believe the first priority is to get rid of the food they are eating and breeding in. Based on the little info provided, they are in your home? If so you have to rid your home of the fruit or where they are breeding. Once you have done that then you can swat them to your hearts content to remove them from the air. Hopefully getting rid of the source is easy enough and then you are home free....good luck.

If you're noticing them in a specific location, clean thoroughly and hang one of those old-fashioned sticky yellow strips in the area. Sometimes it's just a temporary "seasonal" thing, and other times it's because there's something you've left out that's attracting them. If you have any fruit out, store it in the fridge.

they aren't harmful, but they do fly up your nose sometimes while you're eating. You can make a trap for them, put a quarter of a cup of lemon scented dish soap in a cup with three teaspoons of vinegar and they fly in a die. It's great. I hate them too.

Be sure to take out your trash, because the will attract to it. Eat your fruit else where because they can smell fruit from miles away, trust me I know.

World is for them too.
We need them fo proper ecological balance. so dont kill them.
They will not hurt u.If you feel that the spoil all your fruits you can wrap most of your fruits with soft bandage cloth or netted ziplock covers as we do.

They're not harmful, but they are annoying. Swat the crap out of them.
