I guess it felt good to be out of the rain...

In the desert you can't remember your name, cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain...or something like that? The desert is really hot dry, and it kills people who get lost out there because it's really hard to find you way if you get lost everything looks the same!
Remember in the song, that they let the horse run free when the desert had turned to sea. There were plants and birds and rocks and things, there was sand and hills and rain...At least the nameless horse was allowed to run free, if they had gotten lost in their journey across the desert, they could have eaten the horse to stay alive? Maybe they thought just in case they had to eat the horse that they would not be familiar enough with it to name it?
Why am I trying to answer this question? I guess I like the song.

Because they couldn't decide which name to use. So to prevent any hurt feelings in the band, they decided not to name the horse at all.
