I was 2 cm for about 2 weeks before I gave birth. It depends. I went into the hospital at 4cm and got the epidural right away. I'd suggest to stay home until you can't take it anymore because it's harder in the hospital and it can take a long time. Good Luck and Congrats!

The first baby could be weeks or days. The cervix can stay dialated for weeks before the actual birth. Epidural is usually given after 5cm. I wouldnt recommend this especially because the process may slow or stall the labor causing you to have a c-section. You will know when you are in labor. Try to see how you feel before jumping into pain management. you may be a lucky sista! Some of us escape labor with 3hours of discomfort and no need for drugs. But if the pain starts whooping you BUTT get some drugs. There is nothing wrong with needing some help. Good advise is stay calm and breath. Focus on something during a contraction and divert the pain from your mind. Good Luck and update us with what happened. (Have sex now to help soften the cervix or birth)If you are medically able.

I was dialated to 2 and fully effaced 7 days before I gave birth to my daughter. The day I gave birth I went from 3 to 10 in 90 minutes and only pushed for 20 minutes. This is very fast, especially for a first baby. Everyone is different though. Be patient, it will happen soon enough. Then you will be up in the middle of this night wondering why you were so anxious for the baby to come and wished you'd have a few extra nights of sleep.

If the Dr says you are 2 centimeters and you are not in labor then you may stay 2 centimeters until you do go into active labor. I have worked with Dr's who have told their patients they are two centimeters and when I check them there cervix is closed. So it depends on if your Dr stretched the cervix in checking you and kind of fudged or if you really are two centimeters. But once you get into active labor the first baby averages about 12 hours. Depending on what y our Dr's requirement is if it your first baby you may have to be 4 true centimeters to get your epidural.

I was 2 centimetres for about 2 weeks with my first pregnancy. You can have an epidural whenever the pain becomes unbearable. They won't give you one if you're progressing very quickly or if you're already 7 cm or more, by then it's too late for one.

My aunt went like a month when she was 2 cm. I went like a day. I have 2 children. I'm not sure about the epidural though. I went natural both times. Big needles freak me out!

Most doctors want you to be about 3 cm before the ediural. I was 1 cm for a month with my first kid. you can stay like that for quite a while. Some people can go into labor like the very next day...everything changes!!!

I think 8cent.before the epidural. And it could take anywhere from 5 mins to 10 days to go from 2-10.It took me 2 weeks being 3 cent before i got induced. That is not the reason they indused my labor though.

Well I was 2cm dilated in labor when I went to the hospital, I was sure they would send me home. They checked me an hour later and I was 9cm. It is call spontaneous labor. You could be hours or days away.

In can be anytime. Someone can be dialted at 2 for weeks before labor even starts. Count your time apart from contractions. If they are 5 minutes apart or less your chances are high that the baby will be here anyday.
