I have a 97 mazda pu, behind the seat is some sort of wirning connector.?

It appears to be some sort of "joiner" for the wiring of my rear lights. Can this part go bad and what is it called? The truck is a 1997 Mazda B2300 PU.

Could be, probably for a trailer brake controller. Is it factory? They put the same harnesses in a lot of vehicles. You will probably find lumbar seat control wires somewhere as well.

my suggestion is go to an mazda dealer they should be able to answer your question.
