I am an Australian girl, with a grandparent born in Cyprus. Am I eligible for a Cypriot passport or does my dad (born in Australia) have to apply befor I can? Also does anyone know how long this sort of process takes?

You are elligible for Cypriot and hence EU citizenship, as long as you can prove with written documents that you have ancestors born there. Those documents count. So either you or somebody from your family can present them. Being unfamiliar with Cypriot bureaucracy, I can't tell you how much it takes...Good luck!

That sort of chain would usually allow you to get a passport but the best thing is to check with the Cypriot embassy as it will be their rules that apply.

I think that you can't get EU passport just because your grandparent born in Cyprus. Your father is born in Australia not in some EU country, so nothing from passport.
Why you need EU passport, do you have some problems traveling with your Australian passport??

Apply to the cyprus embassy...

Yes you are eligable for ancestral claim...

It can take anywhere between 2 months and a year, just depends how busy they are and how quickly you get information to them when they request more.
