Typically it takes off anywhere between 2 to 4 minutes off your total when you send a MMS message [pic/text] and 1 to 4 minutes off your total when sending a SMS/IM. It all depends on how many characters are sent or received.
Dial #999# to see your total minutes and dollar amount left on your account. After you become a Gold Member you're bascially paying 10 cents per minute during normal phone conversation.

T-Mobile prepay, like all major prepay phone services charge set amounts in dollars and cents for each activity rather than charging minutes.
It would depend on what type of prepay program you are on as to how much it would cost for texting and internet use (aol messenger).
