I am a very tall girl, I'm 6'3" and 20. I constantly am getting asked my height and if I play basketball. I really like being tall, I am proud of it. But it bothers me that I constantly have to answer the same questions. I have made a shirt that says- No I don't play basketball...

Should I just pretend that this is always the first time I heard the question? and is this rude?

I sometimes feel its like asking someone that is overweight their weight....

Just smile big and answer back with a question like "Does it matter if I play basketball?"..then keep smiling and don't wait longer than 5 secs to say "It wouldn't change my height so...."....remmeber to keep smiling. This won't make people stop asking but it will be funny to see their experssions when you response like this, and you are not being rude by doing so, you will always be smiling and you will just be asking something back; just as they did wiht you. Plus your are not even asking something personal about them as they are doing with you.
Don't give much thought to questions like that everyone gets them all the time :)

people just behave strangely when they dont know what to say, No offence, but you are taller than average for a girl, I am 6'3' also, and a large framed guy, so some people seem frightened of me, enen though I am a pretty nice guy, and not mean at all, so I kinda know what you are going through. What I think is funny, is that lots of times in the grocery store, some little old lady will ask me to get something off the top shelf for her.I think tall girls are stunning, A lot of guys might be a little intimidated by a taller woman, but they always turn my head!I know what you mean about it getting old, though. I dont think people are trying to be mean, they just dont always say the right things. I guess just take it with a grain of salt, and forgive them their bad choice of words. and could you get that plate out of the top cupboard for me? thanks! there are advantages to being tall!

no its not rude...I used to get asked crazy questions as well...& it would be the same thing over and over...it gets on my nervous when the same question is asked! I have a friend that is almost 6'0 and she's 20. No dont pretend its the first time! Just say tell them that you're tall and thats all they need to know.

Look at it this way, if you are getting comments that are interactive that is more a compliment. It is the stuff people say behind your back that is rude. Just come up with some funny answers and make it fun. "Like my real dream is to be a jockey". I think people are just surprised by your health. Tell them for a model your the right height or just smile.

I think most people would like to be tall! I don't think the shirt that says you don't play basketball is rude. I sometimes feel like asking tall people if they play basketball but thanks for telling me how it feels to be constantly asked. I'll keep that in mind so I'm not rude.

I understand how you feel you are tired of being treated like some circus freak. Turn the tables back on them for example, if an over weight person ask, "How tall are you" you then tell her and ask her how much does she weights or how fat are you . I think a that point these morons will get the picture.

I love the shirt, and especially the 5'7" answer. That's a really good way to handle it and I think that says it all.
Some people are just are curious, and oblivious; an unfortunate combination. So this is going to happen a lot, so the best way is to learn to laugh about it.

I know your feeling tired of the same question but its in ppls nature to be curious. try to have patience and no you don't need to pretend that this is the first time you've been asked this they shouldnt be so nieve to think that it would be. Be proud of who you are!

well yes its rude, but its also a compliment
height is somehow considered less personal than weight
people with a large chest for instance also
your phisical features are the first thing noticed
if people keep talking to you they probably are interested, so dont bite their head off

I'm sure it gets on your nerves. Try to have a good spirit about it. Just say I get asked this all the time. If you feel like saying anything more, do, if you don't, don't.
