If you are talking about the Italian slang word, it is used as a curse and it actually is a vulgar term for penis/.

I know I am chiming in here a decade too late, but the person who got best answer doesn't really know what he is talking about. Yes, it may mean a vulgar term for penis/my balls but it isn't used in that manor. It is Italian slang used mainly in some areas in the east such as New York City or the Methuen/Lawrence area of Massachusetts (where I grew up). It is used as a form of excitement or displeasure. Example would be: Migya! really? Vinnie asked Maria to marry him? Mingya replaces the word Wow in this instance. Or it could be used when angry to replace a swear word such as Mingya! What were you thinking? You dumbass!
