I wont lie and say it doenst hurt..but there are options (like an epidural) that you will be able to consider. Try not to anticiapte it oo much (as hard as that seems) and just enjoy being pregnant. No matter how the birth goes at the end you will FINALLY get to meet that baby!! It will all be worth it...just keep your eye on the prize

If you have cable TV watch the Learning Channel. They have a show called A Baby Story (at least I think that's what it is called)
A camera crew follows them to the hospital and films the entire birth. I learned a lot watching it. You even see how once it's all over the mother has forgotten about all the pain. I didn't have an epidural with either one of mine.
If it was soooooo terrible people would stop having kids after the first one.

It does hurt but there are meds that you can get, and as soon as the baby is born you forget the pain after you see him or her for the first time.
You can get books from the store or library, a good one is A Child is Born. It has pics in it of an actual child birth. Ask also at the hospital or docs office if they have a video of a birth that you could borrow.
Don't scratch your stomach when it itches it will cause your stretch marks to get worse, instead put lots of cocoa butter lotion or any lotion to help your belly expand without to much marks.

I'm not going to lie, is it painful. It's not as bad as everyone says. I had an epidural for both my sons' births. That helped tremendously. It is true that after the birth, the pain kinda disappears from your mind. The worst was going the bathroom for the 1st time. Make sure you get the tylenol with codeine, as well as the feminine pads with the ice packs..and take some of those home. They are the BEST!!!!! Also, take notes when they tell you how to use the sitz bath..that also is the best!!

Its not so bad at first. If I were you I would get an epidural. They had to induce me so my contractions were a lot stronger than most peoples. The epidural took away all the pain. I couldn't feel anything! Even when i delivered the only pain I felt wasn't even pain it was just pressure. I was lucky I didn't tear so it only took about 2-3 days to be pretty much normal. I hate to say this but thee only thing that really hurt was the hemorrhoids. Good Luck and Congratulations.

It does hurt, but it's a pain that is soothed when you hold your new baby. I have given birth 5 times, once to twins. I really can't remember the pain, but I know it was real at the time. Try not to worry, and focus on the pregnancy and all the joys of having a life grow inside you. CONGRATS!

Yes it hurts but it doesnt last long. It would be like pushing a watermelon out of a hole the size of a ketchup lid. I will let you think about wheter that would hurt or not.
Some one told me before I had my first imagine the worst BM you have everhad and how it hurt to push it out and then multiply that pain. That is what it feels like.
If Men had babies with the low threhold for pain that they have every family would have only one child because they would never want to got through that again. (yet they want us to have more than one

No, every woman who's ever given birth has been LYING. Having a baby is like being tickled by feathers.
*snickers*
And the person who wrote down there that you can't get an epidural if you have a lower back tattoo is absolutely not telling the truth. There is no way "ink can be pushed into your spinal cord" or whatever - it's an urban legend. Tattoo ink isn't just floating between skin layers.

If you have an epidural its not that bad... well its not really that bad before you get it. but even with an epidural it really the pressure of the baby coming through the birth canal. Dont be worried. Its worth it and it not like its something you cant handle.
