Yankee Doodle called the feather and hat, together, macaroni.
Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on a pony
He stuck a feather in his hat
And called it macaroni
Yankee Doodle, keep it up
Yankee Doodle dandy
Yankee Doodle round the world
As sweet as sugar candy
You know because he called it macaroni only AFTER the feather was placed into the hat.

that song is actually a british slang song aimed at Americans calling them(yankee dandees) homosexuals, i believe the name macaroni refers to some homosexual club in london and "doodle" means fool.

I'm going for the combo deal. It sounds most correct, even though the original lyrics to the tune are much more logical.
