Sounds like labor to me. You should go around 6 min apart if this is your first child.

Every pregnancy is different and every birth and labor is different. My first I knew by my contractions it was time. With my second my contractions never did get "regular". That was what my Dr. had told me to watch for.....Regular contractions that I couldn't think or concentrate through. Well I got the not being able to think or do anything while I was having one, but they were every 4 then 8 then 3 then 7 and so on. I was going in to be induced at 2:00 am and at 11:00 pm I was in true labor and wasn't for sure because they weren't "regular". We went ahead and went to the hospital and she came a little after 4:00 am. No need to induce and no meds. There was no time. My water also didn't break on it's own either time. Good luck with the new baby.

I don't have a clue about the pinching. It does sound like you may be having back labor. Maybe if you go in to the hospital, they will induce since you are over due anyway. My doctor did that when I was a few days over with my 17 year old. I wasn't even in hard labor. Good Luck and Congratulations!

You never know for sure when it is "true labor". For me with both of my boys, I never felt the contractions till I was at 8 cm. Go to the hospital if you feel it is labor. The pinching I'm not sure about. It could be the baby get in it's final position.

Trust Me when i tell you this..If you were in labor you'll definitely know it.....there would have been no way on earth you could have even type this note...It truely hurts...Your probably in the early stages of labor...most likely Brackston hick's contractions...If you see any signs of bleeding or unusual spotting I'd go to the E.R. It can be a sign that your water bag is leaking..Also that pinching feeling is your baby's head pressing down on your cervix..dilating (opening)you(very painful)....That was the case for myself...Good Luck with the new bundle of joy...

P.S. Try to get as much sleep as you can cause once the little one is here i becomes very limited...take my advice.. : )

Term babys are two weeks before your due date until two weeks after the due date.

It sounds like your baby is pushing it's head down into the pelvic area. The head needs to engage and continue to push down through the pelvic area. Think about what your pelvic/hip bones look like and then think about the babies head......it is stretrching those pelvic bones so it can be born.

Have you timmed your contractions?
whether or not they are consistant write them down. Ocassionally there is a pattern in the contractions. I assume your doctor has told you how many minuets apart you need to go to the hospital? If you have a pattern like 4 minutes 4 minutes. 20 minutes 4 minutes 4minutes 20 minutes -- you have that one 20 minute stretch but it is a pattern.
You are asking if you are in labor? if you have pain that is constant that isn't labor. Labor pains get intense, then stop, get intense and stops and so on.
It sounds like to me that you are just in pain from the baby moving down and getting ready to be born.
Always call your doctor if you arn 't sure.
Your body is stretching and gettiing ready for the birth day.
Keep us posted

That sounds like your body is getting ready to show you what real contractions are!! (I don't mean to sound rude by that, so please don't take it that way)

The pinching feeling up inside... I had the same thing and my doctor told me its because the baby is right against your cervix and is moving his/her head around and it's putting pressure on your cervix and possibly hitting a nerve.

Keep a watch on your discharge, if it starts to get very clear and thin, call your doc. And time your pains to see if they have a pattern.

Good luck and I wish you a good labor!!

Congratulations.. You should start timing your 'contractions'.. If you have more than four in an hour.. I would get to the hospital..or if you just feel the 'need' follow your instincts....You could always go in and make sure..because different women experience labor in different ways...

Good Luck with your new baby!

If you can type this question, or drive a car, you are not in labor. Just call your doctor to make sure though. It's probably coming REALLY soon though. Oh, you'll know it. You'll know exactly when you're in labor. There's is no denying it. You can barely think straight. Good luck though. Just try to relax. You'll be fine.

I suggest you go to the doctor immediatly. I know from having 3 children of my own that it can be hard to know if your in labor. Dont wait for your water to break because that doesnt always happen. The back aches were my first sign.
