My computer crashed about 4 monthes ago. My sisters boyfriend put a new motherboard in it and now it works just fine. My graphics used Directx 9.0. I could run my sims gaves just fine intill about a week ago. Now every time i try and play this error pops up The Sims 2: Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate." We have downloaded Directx 9.0 several times but it never works. The main problem is the Microsoft my sisters boyfriend put on my computer is not a Genuine copy. So we cant download directx from and mircosoft website. Is there anywhere I can, or anything to make this work? My computer is capable of using these graphics, thats what it came with before. please help

Ok first this is most likey a HARDWARE problem but here are somethings you can try.
1)Install the newer version of direct x if you dont have it (the link is listed below)
2)Update your graphics card drivers (go to the manufacture website and download them, follow the instructions on how to install them)
3)if 1 & 2 didnt work, then you'll need to buy a new graphics (video) card for your system and install it, to play the game.

Run a diagnostic from START/RUN
type in

dxdiag

Run the various tests to get diagnostics on your system.

It's hard to know what has happened to your machine. Seems you are suggesting that the same graphics card that did work is still in your machine. Run the diagnostic and find out what is going on.

You can save a copy of the full report and send it in an email to who ever your local geek is.

Good luck!

Do you have an installation CD for the Video Card? If so, there should be Direct X 9 on it.

Your sims game could possibly have DX9 on the cd. Right click the cd while exploring my computer. Click explore, and search the cd for direct x or something along those lines. Regards.
