Living life is harder when you don't think you are going to die and have your whole life in front of you, and it's a very difficult struggle to get food, clothing, and the basics each day as some in the world have to do.
Choosing death is the hardest thing when you have NO CHOICE BUT NO IT IS INEVITABLY TOO SOON, such when a young child dies of a terminal illness or when a mother is told she will die in childbirth and the doctors do everything they can but she still dies, or when a person is about to be killed and doesn't get a chance to tell their family and friends goodbye, choosing Death then would be hard.

If by death you mean suicide, then I think that death would be the quick way out, a cop-out, the coward's exit and extremely selfish. Although, risking your life for something one firmly believes in and losing the gamble, that's something else entirely. I for one would have no problems putting my life on the line for my unit mates, or someone dear to me.
Life is a hell of a lot harder than killing oneself. Once you kill yourself, that's it. No more challenges, no more hardships to face, no more problems to face. Life is all about facing all of those things, dealing with the fear, the stress, the challenges, the sorrows, everything.
That is hard. Life is a challenge, all of it. And if anything I'm in no hurry to end it before my time comes around, because if anything, I love a good challenge, even one from which I'm not going to get out of alive. Say, like living my life to the fullest with everything that it entails.

Obviously to live life. Death is the easy way out. But for me as a catholic, it wouldn't be so easy after the fact. Suicide is the taking of a life.......that is against the commandment "thou shalt not kill" besides which as many times as I thought of it, I'm a chicken and I couldn't follow through. I'd miss everyone I love so much and know how much I hurt them......I do have people that care about me and love me....don' you? Choosing life is much harder but more courageous.........

Harder to live life.
Mind you, I'm not saying death is an easy choice. Just that there are times when life can be discouraging and, because I am a Christian, I'm supposed to try to imitate Christ. I fall short more often than not.
Can't do that if I'm dead. ; )

Life and its challenges and growing pains is much harder to live than choosing to die so that one will not have to face life.

Figure out what is making your life so hard and change that, a different place , a sunny climate,a different job, surround yourself with happier people. I have met poor migrant workers that worked very hard in the hot sun who could still smile and be friendly and seemed to enjoy their lives. I am suggesting that you try different things and meet other people and learn from others that know what happiness is. Life is a journey worth the trip.

If you have a goal, living life is easier. Otherwise, it would be harder than death.

I think the answer to that largely depends on what hand life has dealt you.
