I'm hearing lots of buzz about this guy, but know very little about him. Is he conservative, his previous experience, notable achievements, etc. Serious answers only please.

He is moderate. As for his accomplishments:
-served as CEO of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games
-signed legislation to provide health insurance to virtually all citizens of Massachusetts without raising taxes
-established the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship Program to reward the top 25 percent of Massachusetts high school students with a four-year, tuition-free scholarship to Massachusetts’ state university or colleges.
-submitted a bill to the legislature to deliver $100 laptops to all children in Massachusetts.
-turned a $3 billion deficit in 2003 into a $700 million surplus in 2004 without raising taxes.
-proposed indexing the minimum wage to inflation

He is pro-life, pro death penalty, supports the use of surplus embryos from fertility clinics for stem-cell research, strongly opposed same-sex marriage, and supports regulation of greenhouse gas emissions.

Education:
B.A. with Highest Honors and as valedictorian from Brigham Young University
M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and was named a Baker scholar
J.D. cumlaude from Harvard Law School

He is a Mormon and served for 2 1/2 years as a missionary.

He is on my short-list (very short) of people I would like to see run in '08.

He has good credentials. He is a conservative who can win in a liberal state. He is an articulate speaker. He has personal integrity. I haven't heard many specifics on the issues.

I don't think he can get the money, which is key to a long primary season. If he does respectfully in the early primaries a Westerner like McCain will grab him for VP.

I dont like any Republicans, but my money is on McCain winning the GOP Primary and being the candidate in 2008.
