We built a new house and it has a opened floor plan. The living room, dinning room & kitchen are all opened. I have no place to plug in lamps that are on the end tables because they aren't against any walls. Wondering if it would be possible to install outlets in the floor and how hard of a project would that be?

Of course you can put outlets in the floors. It might be easier than the walls depending on the type of floors in your home.

if memory serves me at one point they were rather common in commercial applications. The commercial outlets have brass covers on them to protect against damage. If you have basement or a crawl space below ,the wiring should not be difficult to do.

Mr danger is right, There are special Floor kits however it's been a while and I only remember seeing singles with a brass screw-in dust cover.

We have floor outlets all over.
Just make sure you plan to put a couch over them or they look funny.
The ones we have in the dinette are in a corner - our whole dinette is windows.

It would be easy if there's a crawl space under the area you need the outlets. If not, it will cost a bundle.
