a few years back there was a tv show that started out with people on a boat and something was in the water??

i only seen a few episodes, people came to check it out and watch a tape of what happened. There was a fractal pattern in the water and when the ones that watched it went home the noise on the tape had affected them in some way and thats all i remember about it.
