If the fittest survive to pass on their genes, then how do homosexuals do this? How did they in the past, before in-vitro and surrogate pregnancy?

By the way... I'm not an idiot. I agree it's NOT genetic. I'm just trying to make other people *think* instead of believing the crap that homosexuality is genetic rather than a choice.

homosexuality may actually be an evolutionary adaptation, since its level of incidence tends to be positively assosciated with increasing population density. a population that is expanding exponentially may benefit from surrogate childcare by homosexual couples (this has been termed as the "caring uncle" phenomenon in evolutionary biology). your question is a legitimate one, but you neednt be so crass.

I don't know. I have a degree in Biological sciences and I think that homosexuality must have some important function in society as a whole. Or, I agree, it should not have persisted. But it has always been with the human race. BTW I'm gay.
And to point out to your previous answerers--if it's a choice (which it is not--(how come only straight people say that?))..then why even has the choice remained with us..choices are also governed by genes.

Today's human beings are hardly subject to evolutionary laws. Culture has it's own way of handling things.
Culture is required to survive in environments where nature wouldn't allow you to.
Culture helps prolong life far beyond what "nature" would advice.
Culture defines "fitness" in a way which makes survival accessible to almost all.
Sorry. No such thing as natural selection that would wipe off "unpleasant" humans.
That's why a biologist like Da Ben Dan can't figure out an answer.

Because Homosexuality is actually a mental issue, not a physical issue.
Homosexuals will denounce this, but if you think about it, there's not a way, for it to develop on it's own, independent, or, to that matter, be born with it. A lot of people turn gay, simply due to lack of options, bored with the traditional life, or, influenced by TV that something taboo is good.
Evolution, to it's own wackyness, can't eliminate something within the genes, simply because for example, cancer, which kills so many people, can't be genetically removed....because in another form, it's also used to help you heal from cuts, surgery, or other event.
Lastly, since gays don't believe they have a problem, even though it's a sin, by spreading the it's all right to sin belief, they are setting the table to propagate a lifestyle....that's doomed to kill people, and as well, keep it thriving, since it seems abborhant behavior is now vogue, you can only wonder what's next....beastiality, Incest, rape, or Necrophilia?

Dog will go queer if there aren't enough female dogs. Bulls are the same. Monkeys will end up do the same. I would say it's a good mix of environment and genes.

As far a genetic dead end. Sure. But it does do one thing. Get rid of other men that would otherwise compete for the attention of fertile females.

It is normally a minor percentage of an overall population, and would in general at least with humans, many homosexuals still married and had children, since they were expected to live what everyone considered a "normal " life.

Why are YOU so OBSESSED with homosexuality? This is the second question in a row that I have answered, asked by you in a negative way, in regards to homosexuality.

Are you in the closet or something? Because you are sure acting like it.

How do you know it hasn't? Maybe 99% of all people used to be born gay, but the straights gradually overtook them. I don't think it's really genetic, but I have read that about 10% of all animals exhibit interest in the same sex.

Before gays came out so openly, many of them married and had children just like hetrosexuals in order to avoid detection. They had to keep their homosexual affairs secret.
