i'm thinking it may be feasible but i feel we need to let the country get along on their own. no one helped the United States become a democracy, we did it on our own. however, it may not be feasible for many many years but they need to do things on their own. we can't afford to be babysitters to other countries when they screw up.

I've been there, for a 12-month deployment to Tikrit, Iraq... the factions in Iraq can't get along, how do you think the whole region would??? THEY CAN'T. About the actual question though... BUSH is a disaster, he defines the word... just wait towards the end of 2007 when he's on his way out (FINALLY) the dictionaries will update their definition to accomodate the moron. He's the biggest puppet of a president I've ever seen. At least with Clinton he said what he stood for and that was that... whatever happened to Mission Accomplished along with his response to Sen. Kerry grilling him during the 2004 presidential debates "SADDAM didn't take down the twin towers". I'd rather have a real president that gets extra credit now and then from his interns than a joke like BUSH any day of the week.

A good quick solution is to split Iraq into three separate nations. No, it would not be perfect but at least it will quell the violence to some degree and their would not be so much political in fighting locking up the system. Of course democracy would have to be a necessary condition.
As far as leaving immediate, bad idea. Civil war would ensue. Kurdistan would try to secede and be assumed by Turkey. The south would probably link up with Iran only giving them more oil and power, (bad idea since they are the #1 sponsor of terrorism), and finally the central and east would go to the Sunnis and possibly fall back into the baathists hands. In any case more terrorism would come out of these scenarios and we would probably only have to come back yet again than if we just did it right to begin with.
Yes, we can be more intelligent about how we go about this process, a lot more intelligent than we have been, but this is a long term affair. Let's just hope there are enough capable people that care in our government to steer this thing right.

If we leave now everything would return to the way it was before. It's no longer about whether or not Bush was right in sending us to war, (in my opinion he was correct.), but now it's about the fact we went in there tore down their old system of government. And now because we did that we have the responsibility to help them set up their new government, no matter how the end result comes to be. Right now Iraq is suffering, the government backed their economy, and there is no government, so no economy, so no money, no jobs, no foods, and in some cases no shelter. Since American was responsible for tearing apart their country we have the responsibility to stay through until the end, and set up a new system of government is hard and it takes time. Time to change the old patterns of thinking, time to adjust to the changes that will affect them in every aspect of their lives. People tend to forget that America itself took time with these changes. For us the adjusts to the changes started almost as soon as the first generations were born here in the states. By the time we actually declare ourselves free we were well accustom to the new ideas, that's WHY we decide to break away from Britain. And other countries did aid us in our fight for freedom. Sadly freedom does not come free, it requires sacrifice and commitment.
I would not feel right pulling out just yet, even though it may mean another trip over there for myself.

I don't think westerners have a choice but to TRY to make it feasible, or possible; the radical Muslims are always going to try to terrorize us, so it's best to try to work it out and change it.
A lot of people are too scared to face the truth that war is necessary, and that Bush didn't make a mistake with Iraq or the search for Osama; 911 wasn't the first time the towers were attacked.
If they leave Iraq now, all that has been sacrificed will be for nothing.

Israel took over the Palestine area, threw people out of their homes - this is when the turmoil happened - when England turned over land to the Jewish people, fighting ever since, over the Gaza strip. President after president has been trying to reach a civil agreement between the area, but, not have been able. There were talk of peace and turn over of Gaza during Clinton Admin., but talks were over. The muslim religion sticks together in all areas, for the Palestines. Turmoil will not end, until there is resolution between Israeli and Palestine. Until a president comes to terms with this conflict - there will be hostilities between the Middle East countries.

I agree, the Middle East has been in turmoil for a long long time. But if we leave now, everything that we've done so far would go to waste don't you think?

it's the you broke it you bought it rule.
forget about exactly, how about a ballpark figure of when the loosely defined job is done, so we can move from the current disaster. as for giving up the desire to live in freedom, try remembering the admins continued attack on the constitution

This war ill planned from the beginning with white house gang with NO military experience playing generals and plotting war. They were told from experts who they did listen to that to fight this war more troops would be needed.
Then you have Top Gun Bush declaring "mission accomplished" and the war still continues.
It is time set deadline for us to move out and stop the killings of American military.

The middle east is very tribal! As I am sure you already know tribalism serves only to separate people.
I do not think Human Beings are capable of seeing the thread that joins us all.
I believe our only hope is intervention.
Have fun but be safe.
