It's like your body has morphed into someone you don't even know, isn't it?
Yeah, being pregnant can cause you to feel off balance. Your center is off a bit, and you're learning to adjust.
I never was a runner, but I did walk a lot with both of my pregnancies. When I got to where I was feeling a bit uncomfortable, I went to a gym and walked on a treadmill - the trainers there can help you.
The best exercise, and as a dancer you may really like this, was the prenatal yoga classes. I felt GREAT after each session.
Swimming is another way to feel better. You lose that heavy feeling while in the pool.

Hello. Congratulations on your first baby. Being pregnant can throw some women's equailibrium off. And since you are so thin I'm sure that's what it is. While being pregnant you'll be clumsy, eat things that would have normally made you nauseaus, and go through so many other changes. It's quite an experience. As far as you running, My dr. always said I could do whatever I was use to doing. If you have always ran or exercised then it will be ok to do it now also. If its painful then you may want to talk to your dr. or just don't do it as much. I wish you lots of luck!!

Hi Missy. Yes, it's normal to feel this way, especially when you are small to begin with. The added weight will feel different, but it's gradual and you will get used to it. Being pregnant and becoming a parent is the most loving and unselfish thing you can do. Congratulations. But, the running should stop. Because you are very active, and probably have a "killer body" prepregnancy, you would probably do well with pregnancy yoga. You already will excel at the moves b/c you were a ballerina. It will be fun, and when you meditate, envision holding your baby. I found this to be the most intimate part of my pregnancy was talking to my little baby in utero. Good luck and you will be a fantastic mom.

Pregnant women tend to be clumbsy.....Rule number one: Do not start anything new! Do not take up running, jogging,or any sports unless it's something you've been doing most of your life. If you havent run or played any sports in even a year...don't take it up now. If your hurting yourself than you definately should not be doing that, you are still in the stage where you should be careful and could lose your baby by doing something you shouldnt. At 4 months I came very close to miscarrying my son, I was at work earlier in the day and pulled a whole rack of clothes about 3 feet accross the floor....that was it. Later that night I woke up to go to the bathroom and wiped a bunch of blood off of me,went to the ER,stayed there until the next day, went home and was on bed rest for 4 days.
No question is ever silly...especially when it comes to your unborn child, your priority is to take care of and protect yourself and your child.

OMG yes yes yes I was the same way. I was a tap/jazz/ballet dancer for 7 years, played every sport I could, so I had pretty good balance, but when I was pregnant I was stumbling over everything, losing my balance, and one time I fell going UP the steps. Not sure what it is about being pregnant and being clumsy though. As far as the running, try not to over do it, at least that's what I was told. Good luck!! (And I hope you are doing good in your pregnancy!)

yes this is normal your balance will be off and it will only get more off the farther along you get so forget the graceful movements lol for now at least its time to just sit back and relax as best as possible cuz these next 8 or 7 months will be very umcomfortable hate to say it but it is true....oh and for the whole running bit i would not do it i dont know if it is dangerous but it might bring on unwanted contractions which is not a good thing but still talk to your obgyn about any questions or concerns you may have okay? good luck

I think it's normal. I'm also quite thin and I started feeling huge and heavy when my tummy wasn't showing up yet. sorry to announce this, but ballet dancers (as well as other women who had rigid diet and excessive physical excersise) usually r more prone to miscarriages or problems during pregnancy and delivery, so be careful. don't run, walk instead - it's better. and do put on some weight- it'll be required both for u and ur baby.
good luck!

i had many of the same symptoms you are describing, with the added bonus of not being able to stand anything even remotely touching my tummy before i was even a tiny bit showing! jeans made me feel sick! everything had to be rolled down like low riders (i wish they'd had those 6 years ago!!!) or i couldn't take it.
it really is just your body's way of telling you to take it easy right now. your energy is supposed to be directed to the support of your baby~ but the activity does not have to stop! try fast walking instead of running (your knees will thank you... the preggo hormones are loosening your joints up and will make you more prone to joint injuries if you are not really careful!)
best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy!!

Feeling off balance is normal because your center of gravity is shifting (temporarily) with the baby. Check with your doctor about running. You might need to slow down a bit. Good luck!

You will feel differently of course since your body is going through so many changes. If you are concerned, consult your dr. Everyone is different and your overall health will have a lot to do with how you feel so it is always better to talk with your doctor. Congratulations! Good Luck and don't worry so much! Enjoy!
