Honestly for 50 bucks.... to stay in a "nice" place - the golden nugget is your best bet, if you look at their site their rooms are just as nice as the mirage I beleive they were once affiliated but not anymore. I stayed there and its actually a beautiful hotel and the standard rooms are nice- check out their site and you'll see - they have a special now for 69/night which is the best you'll get right now. Otherwise you'll have to lower your standards and try the the older hotels like the four queens, lady luck, or fitzgeralds

The LUXOR Hotel is Simply Beautiful, it's like you're in Egypt inside the Sphinx! They have lots of shows and the atmosphere is very laid back. I won 800 bucks playing Black Jack one night @ 3a.m. I hit a 1000 Coins on the Quarter machines twice in a row ! All in the same night! If you get a suite they are really luxurious...but not as expensive as say the Bellagio, which is nice too but why spend all of your money on the hotel room when you can spend it gambling??!!
Hope you have a great time in Vegas.

Stratosphere if it is a week day it will start around $34 plus tax. $50 does not get one night on Friday or Saturday. Those night cost an average of $98
Stratosphere is rated 3 star and is on the north end of the strip so you can still be close to all of the action.
Most of the larger mega resorts require a two night stay like the Luxor, Paris etc.
Stratosphere does not.
Enjoy

If you only got $50 forget most of the hotels on the strip, if during the week Sun - Thurs. Imperial Palace may have a room. Downtown you might have more choices other than that motel/notel. In reality you need $100 to get a decent clean room in Vegas.

The Barcalona it's in North Las Vegas on Nellis Blvd. It's right across the street from Super Wal Mart. THey have Cheap meals and they are good. I used to live IN Las Vegas and we ate there quite a bit. The Nickle Slots pay out pretty good to. I can't remember what the rates were but I know that they were under $50.

If you are looking to gamble, try the Fiesta in N. Las Vegas. It's where the locals play. I hit a royal there on 9 consecutive visits over a 3 year period.
