what type of paint would be best to repaint the face?

hun, you have to use porcelain paints. They are very specific paints that you need to practice with on ceramic tile until you get the brush strokes down. If you are redoing an existing doll you can get some simple ceramichrome paints at any craft store to repaint it....it works well if you just want to add a little color or fixa mistake. You could then seal it with an aerosol porcelain sealer.

Don't quote me but acrylic - when it dries it's basically hard plastic. Prime with Gesso. Again, this is all *I think* I've only customized plastic dolls. Not brave enough to try porcelain yet. You could ask at a craft store as well.
